Why This Page Exists

We receive a high number of enquiries every week, and many customers use the term “quote” to mean different things. To avoid confusion, the information below explains the difference between a free quote and a paid pre-purchase roof survey.

Why Pre-Purchase Surveys Are Not Free

These reports are used by buyers to negotiate thousands of pounds off a property price, or to satisfy mortgage / insurance requirements.
They require professional time, liability, and written documentation, not just a verbal estimate.
We receive around 30 survey requests per week, many from people who never go on to own the property.
For this reason, we cannot allocate a surveyor for several hours at no cost when no roofing work may ever follow.

What Happens If You Go Ahead With the Work?

The £250 + VAT survey fee is refunded in full
You already have the written report, photos and pricing breakdown
Work can be scheduled immediately after completion of the property purchase

What Happens If You Don’t Proceed?

The report remains yours to use with your solicitor, estate agent, surveyor or vendor
No further payment is due, and no follow-up is required
The fee covers the time and expertise of the surveyor only – not any obligation to hire us
