It was a real pleasure to welcome Kate Osborne MP to see us recently and spend some time talking about the business, the team, and the wider construction industry.
We’re always proud to show people around Trustmark Roofing and Building, but this visit felt particularly special. It came off the back of us being named Best Roofing Contractor at the Prestige Awards – an achievement that means a great deal to everyone involved.
Kate took the time to meet Robert, Mark, and me, to have a proper look at how we work, and to hear the story behind the business. Like us, she’s big on supporting local firms, and it was good to talk openly about what it really takes to build something solid in today’s climate.
Talking About the Real Challenges
Alongside the congratulations, we had a frank and useful discussion about the pressures facing the construction industry right now. That included:
- The ongoing skills gap and why apprenticeships matter more than ever
- The need to invest in young people locally and give them real, long-term opportunities
- Rising material and operating costs that every trade business has to manage
These aren’t abstract issues for us – they’re things we deal with daily. Having an MP who understands that reality and is willing to listen makes a difference.
From Local Lads to Award Winners
What Kate highlighted, and what we’re most proud of, is that this business has grown the right way. We’re all local lads. We started small, worked hard, and focused on doing the job properly every single time.
Winning awards is great, but it’s the result of consistent standards, strong processes, and a team that cares about their work. That’s what’s taken us from strength to strength over recent years.
